We are back in our room on the oncology HOT unit. Yesterday afternoon both the PICU and oncology doctors felt that Cade looked good compared to the day prior. They were happy with his progression and that they were able to get him back on oral Tylenol and see the fever remain controlled. Had heContinue reading “Room Sweet Room”

Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot!
Shortly after I posted my update yesterday, things took a turn for the worse. Cade woke up from his nap on the couch around 11:30 and was fussy and wanting me to hold him. So I moved him over to sit with me on the reclining chair and got him all situated on top ofContinue reading “Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot!”
Prayers for Healing in Week 2
First and foremost, I have to say that we made it through our week of baths and endless laundry!!! Whooo hoooo! We celebrated with a lot of splashing and a high 5 during our 21st and final bath of the week on Friday night. I’m seriously not making this kid get in the bathtub againContinue reading “Prayers for Healing in Week 2”
Heavy Chemo Round 1
Cade started his heavy dose chemo bright and early Saturday morning. He got all his anti-nausea premedication and was started on his 1st chemo drug by 7am. Carboplatin. It ran over 4 hours and then was immediately followed by the 2nd drug of the course called Thiotepa, which ran over another 4 hours. Sunday wasContinue reading “Heavy Chemo Round 1”
We Made It!
We are officially admitted for round 1 of Cade’s heavy dose chemo. This did not look to be possible yesterday afternoon. I called to follow up late morning and was told by one of the case workers that the hospital admission was approved, but it was unclear as to whether the chemo and stem cellContinue reading “We Made It!”
I Hate Insurance
Today I’m writing this update not from the hospital, but from my kitchen. Which only means one thing. Insurance companies SUCK! Last week they submitted everything at the end of the day Wednesday after our appointment. They were wanting Cade to come in Sunday afternoon and be admitted in order to start his first roundContinue reading “I Hate Insurance”
The Next Phase
Well we finally heard back yesterday that Nationwide also agreed that Cades scans are all clean and that any spots present were scar tissue from continued surgical changes and just a vessel in the spine. This was very reassuring. I will honestly probably not be 110% reassured until Dr Ruge also views the scans, butContinue reading “The Next Phase”
Results Are In
Thursday went good. I had a calm feeling of peace with me all day. I knew God was with me. Cade had all of the tests and scans done and the feeding tube placed and everything went great. The feeding tube was a little more obnoxious looking than I was expecting. They put in aContinue reading “Results Are In”
Today is a BIG Day
Good morning. Things have been going good, so naturally Cade has been keeping me busy! I’m trying to squeeze in the time this morning to get an update out to everyone before another crazy day begins. Last update Cade had spiked his first fever ever. Well thanks to all the prayers and this little guysContinue reading “Today is a BIG Day”
A Couple Days of Family Time
Saturday night my mom came up to the hospital and stayed over night with Cade to give me a little break. I was really needing this as that afternoon Cade and I were walking back up the SkyWalk bridge, me pushing him and his IV pole, and ahead of me there was a dad walkingContinue reading “A Couple Days of Family Time”
