I thought I would share some happy cute moments since we have been in the hospital. First and foremost-Cade is being an absolute trooper!! He has been in good spirits considering he is a 2 yr old restricted to his bed, constantly getting tangled up in his wires, having lights shined in his eyes hourly, and being squeezed by the BP cuff, etc. Cade has melted many of hearts since we have been here.
His nurses have been wonderful! They’ve let him take a couple baths in the tub, walk down to the playroom, play with the train, get new movies. They are crafty and adorable in the ways they’ve interacted with him- letting him show them which leg the BP cuff is gonna go or which toe for the pulse ox. Always being cooperative.
My favorite moment was with nurse Randi. He was the 1st one to let Cade get out of the room for a bit. We were gone for almost an hour. When we got back to room he of course had to get in bed and get hooked back up. Cade has always been nothing but cooperative for his neuro checks, but he was pissed! lol. Randy asked him to shake his hands & Cade with a grouchy look on his face, stared straight ahead ignoring him. Randy asked him instead to straighten both his legs out. What does Cade do? Pull them tightly in and cross them Indian style. So Randy got creative and asked if he could kick his hands and punch his hands away. Well that got his attention and worked like a charm! Well done nurse Randy! It was hilarious.
Our other favorite funny moment was the night of the mri when Cade came back with the squishy circle patches on his head. That night he had to sleep on top of me and snuggle all night. Next morning I went to brush my teeth and looked in mirror to see something on my neck. I was like, what on earth?? Then I noticed another and another. Turned out the purple tracings around the leads were all over my neck and chest in circles and half circles. In the morning rounds they were chuckling about it and the neurosurgeon said “that honestly has to be one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.” ❤️
All in all, it’s has been a very long 4 days here, but people are impressed by this little guy and his behavior and character through it all. I’m praying that speaks to him feeling safe and to his strength that we are going to see tomorrow as he gets through surgery like the rockstar he is.
Keep your prayers coming! We appreciate every single one of them!!!!!
